Product Description
In 2006 an angel-faced but tough 42-year-old former small-town mayor named Sarah Palin became a long-shot candidate for Alaska governor demanding a higher ethical standard in state government. The timing of her reform message and a widening scandal produced a tornado that reshaped the political landscape. Surprising everyone, Palin thumped by wide margins both a sitting governor in the Republican primary election and a former governor in the general election to become Alaska's first female chief executive and its youngest ever.

5 out of 5 stars Sarah Palin Could Be the Turning Point of This Election September 7, 2008

Sarah Palin's meteoric rise on the national scene is a testament to the media-driven world in which we live. A week ago, she was known and admired by 85% of Alaskans, which in itself is remarkable, but she was largely unknown outside that state. A week later, many of us are reading this book and being deluged by the internet, press and the media, all distorting or exaggerating the facts about Sarah Palin, trying to diminish this amazing woman. I personally think those efforts are back-firing.
She is a remarkable woman by any standard, and this book written by her good friend shares a lot of information about the woman who may very well be our first female Vice President. Just juggling a large family and an active political life in Alaska is more than many men or women could handle, and yet she seems to do it with ease. As Governor of Alaska she has been a very strong advocate for the citizens of her state and cleaned up a lot of political wrongdoing there, and still continued to fulfill her responsibilities as a Mom to her children.
This book gives the reader a behind-the-scenes, insider's peek at the core of this woman, her beliefs, her tenacity, her down-to-earth attitudes, and her impressive political history. I'm sure all hockey moms are great, but this particular one may be the most exceptional of the lot.
If you are hungry for more information on this fascinating woman, you will enjoy this very real look at her life and her successes.

This is the best book I've ever seen on how to cook Moose. A lot of people don't really know how to cook moose properly. Hopefully when Sarah becomes president even McDonald's will serve mooseburgers. Other than the great moose recipes, this is a book of hate. Sarah's views are very extreme and are based on her religious fanaticism. But those moose recipes are great!
5 out of 5 stars This is a re-issue, not a new book! September 7, 2008

Just to let you know, this book was not written because Palin is now the VP nominee. It was published a year ago under the title "Sarah: How a Small Town Girl Turned Alaska's Political Establishment on its Ear." It was simply the biography of Sarah's rise to Alaska's Governorship. When it was written, no one had any idea she would be the VP nominee.
The publisher just re-released it with the new title because of the VP nom. In my opinion, this is a good thing, since the book was not written for a national audience, but more as a personal-interest story (the author writes about Alaska country life).
I have yet to get or read the book, but I think pointing out that this is definitely NOT a partisan hack job is very important.
There is a great review of the book however, written back in June, when Palin was a very long-shot choice. From that review, this book seems like a great, straightforward, honest read. That review is here: beldar.blogs.com/beldarblog/2008/06/review-kaylene.html
The reviewer was near the end of Obama's autobiography when he got this book, so it does not seem bias to me.
5 out of 5 stars Palin power. This is no ordinary woman! September 7, 2008

This new biography of Governor Palin is a very fascinating read. I could tell the author is for Mrs. Palin but that's alright with me. It's expected. One can see that Palin is a very ordinary person who has managed to do extraordinary things on her own. She has not taken advantage of affirmative action like Obama to be the person she is now. Yes! She's done things on her own and this is where she stands by the virtue of her own courageous actions. And this alone makes for a compelling story. It is inspirational to me. Regardless of where you stand in politics of today America, you could see that she is an accomplished woman. I wish her and her family the best

Her rise is fantastic. This woman has a lot of moxie. Starting out in a small town and working her way to taking on the state Republican party. Fighting corruption and implementing change into her administration as governor. Will be interesting to see what she does next for America.
Book tells of her experiences and views.
